Pastoral Guidelines in times of typhoons and rainstorms

"Pastoral Guidelines in times of typhoons and rainstorms" by Catholic Diocese:

  1. When the Typhoon Signal No. 8 (or above) is hoisted or Black Rainstorm Warning is in force, the faithful, in accordance with the advice given to the general public, are to avoid outdoor activities and to stay indoors for their personal safety.
  2. As travelling from their houses to churches or Mass centres might be hazardous when the above-mentioned signals are hoisted, the faithful are not obliged to attend Sunday Mass under these circumstances. However, for their own spiritual benifit, they are stiil required to perform some works for piety, such as meditating on some Scripture passages (preferably those chosen for the Sunday liturgy) or saying the Rosary at home.
  3. UNder the circumstances mentioned in No.1 above, churches and Mass centres are to be closed, and regularly scheduled Masses are to be cancelled. This applies to Sundays and weekdays.
  4. The faithful who go against the advice given in Nos. 1-2 above do so at their own risk. The diocesan authorities and the priests concerned shall not be responsible for any accidents or injuries which might accur.
  5. If Typhoon Signal No. 8 (or above) or Black Rainstorm Warning is lowered two hours or more ahead of scheduled Sunday or weekday Masses, churches or Mass centres are to provide the usual eucharistic services. However, priests are not requires to arrange for special/unscheduled Masses when these signals are lowered.

Meet our Parish

Letter from Rev. Renzo Milanese

responsive screens5th Jan., 2017

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

Happy New Year to you and your family! May the New Year bring renewed joy to your marriage and family life!

The theme of the Diocese this year is “Marriage, Family, Life”. Last year, Pope Francis published the Apostolic Exhortation “Amoris Laetitia”, in which he presents his reflections following the Synod of Bishops of the previous year. (The document is available in the Vatican page. http://w2.vatican.va/content/dam/francesco/pdf/apost_exhortations/documents/papa-francesco_esortazione-ap_20160319_amoris-laetitia_en.pdf )

The parish community will address the issue by organising a few workshops and introducing some reflections after the Way of the Cross in Lent. Here, I would like to invite everyone to reflect on your marriage and family life, taking advantage of the opportunities offered you by the diocese, the parish and the catholic media.

During the past year, the parish had done some maintenance work in a meeting room, a store room and completed some minor works in the church. The replacement of the air-conditioning system is still under study. We have also increased the number of visual displays that will be better used when the internet company provides us with an upgraded connection. We hope this can be achieved in the next few months.

Furthermore, I would like to take the occasion to thank all parishioners for the spiritual and material support in providing for the needs of the parish.

The English-speaking community is growing in number and participation. I thank God for the grace of making our community open to all and showing its universal spirit.

Greetings for a joyful year full of family happiness.

Renzo Milanese
